SILCO Paint

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Silco silicone enhanced paint sets new standards for long-term protection, durability and visual enhancement and provides a balance between water repellency and vapour permeability.

Silco can be used as a protective and decorative paint on all internal and external masonry surfaces. It is especially suited as a coating for mineral plasters e.g. PT 100, PT 101, PT 102, PT 103, PT 104, PT 400, PT 402 but can also be used directly onto other masonry substrates e.g. tilt-slab concrete and fibre-cement sheeting.
Silco application and clean-up with water are simple and the coatings are safe to the applicator and to the environment.

Preparation
The substrate must be dry and of sound nature, free from dust and loose particles and other contaminants which could affect adhesion.
Mask or protect other surfaces prior to commencing application. Care must be taken to ensure the surface is clean and sufficient drying/hardening time has been given to any previous coating or area of repair during the course of preparation.

Application
Silco can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray. Before use stir thoroughly. Silco is touch dry in 30 minutes at 25°C and 50% RH. Recoat time in two hours. Under colder or more humid conditions more time may be required. Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C or where temperature is likely to fall below 10°C during the drying period. Do not apply in dusty or windy conditions or where rain is prevailing or likely.

Coverage
Apply two coats at a spread rate of 5m² per litre per coat to plastered surfaces. Or apply one primer coat at a spread rate of 15m² per litre and two coats at 8m² per litre per coat for smooth surfaces. To highly textured surfaces apply three coats at a spread rate of 5m2 per litre.

Important
Silco is developed only for use on mineral plasters.
Do not add under any circumstances substances other than clean water to Silco paint.
Silco is self-priming and can be diluted up to 20—30% with clean water. However, smooth surfaces will need to be primed either with diluted Silco or with undiluted SK15.
